Laura Berendt will be leaving RFPD
January 10, 2022
Laura Berendt (our teaching pro), was informed today (January 10th) by the River Forest Park District that she will not be offered any paddle or tennis teaching contracts beyond March 2022.
RFPD was asked about their plans for hiring a new teaching pro. “Next steps are to be determined”, was the response.
With the hope of influencing the RFPD, we are asking our RFPTA Associates to submit skills/attributes they hope the next pro(s) will possess. Please provide your suggestions and we will consolidate and forward them to the RF Park District.

Our very own youth paddle players Henry VanDerSchie and Peter Struck won the U10 Division in the APTA Hinsdale Junior Open U10 Tournament at Ruth Lake Country Club in December, 2021. They credit their success to drills and practicing with Coach Laura! Way to go boys! Putting River Forest on the map!
Winter Snow Removal

Now with winter snow, the River Forest Park District has published guidelines for removing snow from the River Forest Platform Tennis courts. These can be viewed on our RESOURCES page, accessed from the top website menu.
Retention of Laura Berendt for RFPD Paddle and Tennis Pro

The River Forest Park District (RFPD) is considering whether or not to retain Laura Berendt as the paddle and tennis teaching pro beyond March 2022. Notes from players in the paddle and tennis community to Andrew Valett (Athletic Manager of RFPD) and Mike Sletten (Executive Director of RFPD) would be an effective way to show our support and advocate for Laura to continue as our pro.

Winter House League Registration
November 20, 2021
Winter League registration will open on December 6 at 8:30 AM for both Men’s and Women’s House Leagues. Information will be available on Monday, November 22 in the Winter Fun Guide on rfparks.com
